Here are all the current road needs that have been reported to us. You can check to see if the issue that you would like to report is already listed. A status of “Reported” means that we have been made aware of the issue. A status of “Started” means that we have begun working on the issue.

Wesson Gap Road - Bridge Replacement

 The bridge on Wesson Gap Road over Big Wills Creek is currently scheduled to be replaced in 2014.  The current bridge was closed after a failure of the steel truss section.  The bridge replacement is being funded utilizing Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP) and local funds.

Bud Umphrey Road - Bridge Replacement

 The bridge on Bud Umphrey Road over Bristow Creek was let to bid in November of 2013, and is currently scheduled to begin construction in early 2014.  The current bridge is posted for a three ton weight limit.  The bridge replacement is being funded utilizing Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP) and local funds. The replacement will eliminate a detour of several miles for vehicles over the posted weight limit of the current structure.

 

Steele Station Road - Bridge Replacement

The bridge on Steele Station Road over Rook Creek is currently closed and under construction.  The old bridge was posted for a nine ton weight limit.  Work is expected to be completed in early 2014.  The bridge replacement is being funded utilizing Metropolitan Planning Organization and local funds.

 

Mayo Road - Bridge Replacement

 The bridge on Mayo Road over Bristow Creek is currently closed and under construction.  The old bridge wass posted for a three ton weight limit.  The project is expected to be completed in early 2014.  The bridge replacement is being funded utilizing Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP) and local funds.

Egpyt Mountain Road

 Egpyt Mountain Road is currently scheduled for a March 2013 project letting for improvements to the roadway from Littleton Road to Williamsburg Road.  The project will involve leveling of the existing roadway, placement of a new asphalt wearing surface, traffic stripe, and installation of guardrail along the roadway.  The project is 0.79 miles in length and is being funded through the High Risk Rural Roads (HRRR) Program and with local funding.

Colvin Gap Road

 Colvin Gap Road is currently scheduled for resurfacing in 2013.  The project will involve leveling of the existing roadway, widening of the roadway, placement of a new asphalt wearing surface, and traffic stripe from the Calhoun County line to Sibert Street South.  The project is 2.41 miles in length and is being funded through the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and with local funding. 

Jackson Trail - Bridge Replacement

 The bridge on Jackson Trail over the Locust Fork of the Warrior River is currently scheduled to be replaced.  The current bridge is posted for a three ton weight limit.  The bridge replacement is being funded utilizing Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP) and local funds.

Stephens Gap Road

The resurfacing of Stephens Gap Road is currently scheduled to begin in early 2014.  The project was let to bid in November of 2013.  The resurfacing project will consist of leveling of the roadway, a new asphalt wearing surface, and traffic stripe.  The project is being funded through Etowah County’s annual Federal Aid allotment from FHWA.
