Assistant Etowah County Engineer


With the promotion of the Assistant County Engineer to County Engineer, the Etowah County Engineer and County Commission are accepting application for Assistant County Engineer to serve as highly qualified technical and people professional to cooperatively lead the County’s Engineering and Roads Department.


Under the direction of the County Engineer, the Assistant County Engineer performs highly technical, supervisory and professional engineering work.  Supervises, and assists with, operation of the drafting room and surveying program.  Leads the Road and Bridge Construction Supervisor, Road Maintenance Supervisor, Sign Shop Supervisor and Engineering staff.  Receives complaints, requests and opportunities from citizens, law enforcement officials and County Commissioners.   Works to resolve concerns and requests as soon as practical.


Incumbent receives general direction and is expected to take initiative, coordinate and collaborate as appropriate, to achieve the mission.


Base requirements include a degree from a four-year civil engineering program with an EIT Certification; valid Alabama’s driver’s license; and, willingness and ability to work nonstandard hours and weekends when needed.


Salary is negotiable considering the individual’s qualifications and capabilities.


It will be preferred that the selected candidate reside in Etowah County, within six months of appointment.
