The Chief Clerk—Personnel is the County’s Payroll Specialist.
  • Processes multiple payrolls—weekly, bi-monthly and monthly—including related taxes, benefit and other regulatory and judicial deductions for approximately 350 full-time, part-time and temporary employees and for elected officials. Prepares local, state and federal withholding payments and reports.
    • Hands-on payroll expertise and experience, 3-7+ years preferred, including with:
      • ACH direct deposits;
      • Quarterly SUI and 941-SS reporting;
      • Annual W-2s, 1094-Cs and 1095-Cs;
      • Skill with Microsoft Office, especially excellent with Excel;
      • Experience with Tyler Technologies (New World) Logos System preferred;
      • Experience with local government, including law enforcement preferred.
    • Assists the Personnel Director. Monitors budgeted positions including hiring, transfers, promotions, demotions and terminations.  Collaborates with and serves day-to-day supporting and coaching role with the Benefits Coordinator and Personnel Assistant.  Performs back-up duties for both as needed and assigned.
      • Benefits administration experience including with organization and employee-paid health, dental, vision, flexible spending, life insurance, disability, retirement and FMLA preferred.
